2014 Asian Philanthropy & Sustainability Forum – Nov 13, 2014, San Francisco

Asian Philanthropy Forum curates the ongoing discussions in the philanthropic sector and highlights leaders and organizations that are working to improve the quality of life and sustainability of Asian communities. The 2014 inaugural event brought together a diverse group of business and social leaders to learn about social innovation and sustainability efforts in Asia.

The Nurturing China’s Vulnerable Children session shared the work of Ms. Jenny Bowen, Founder and CEO of Half the Sky Foundation, and moderated by Ms. Suzette Wu of Goldman Sachs. Audience members learned how Half the Sky’s innovative programs provide nurturing family-like care and enrichment opportunities for thousands of children in China and how they were able to work with the Chinese government to make transformational changes at the national level. All guests received a signed copy of Jenny Bowen’s book, “Wish You Happy Forever”.

The second discussion: Philanthropy Trends in Asia highlighted the recent trends and changes in the growth of philanthropy in Asia. Featuring Terry Farris of Nanyang Technological University and moderated by Ms. Dien Yuen of Asian Philanthropy Forum and Kordant Philanthropy Advisors, this discussion invited the audience to learn about the opportunities and challenges regarding giving and fundraising in Asia.
