Asian Philanthropy News Digest 03/9/2012

* A new study says that charitable gifts in Singapore doubled from $381 million in 2001 to $776 million in 2010. A majority of the gifts are from individual donors.

* China continues to improve transparency in philanthropy. Formal regulations, guidelines and lots of activity in China after the Red Cross scandal.

* Asif Saleh, Director of Communications and Head of the Social Innovation Lab at BRAC writes about the two kinds of changemakers in Bangladesh – social activists and social entrepreneurs. 

* Ted Hart joined Charities Aid Foundation of America (CAF America) as CEO. Ted’s background is in fundraising, so this is an interesting pick for CAFA. Let’s see how Ted will take CAFA “to a new level.” CAFA is a US nonprofit that provides global grantmaking services.
