TWU was created as a social business which aims to improve the social and economic positions of auto-rickshaw drivers in Bangalore, while contributing to improved environmental conditions.
East & Southeast Asia Impact Investing Forum, March 14-15, 2013, Hong Kong
Presented by Asia Community Ventures and The Rockefeller Foundation, the forum will convene leading investors and other market participants in the region; present recent analysis of the evolution and current state of the impact investing industry globally; facilitate discussion among participants of barriers and opportunities for unlocking greater impact investment capital in the region; and create opportunities for regional leaders to build upon, and contribute to, a growing set of best practices in global impact investing. The forum will conclude with the launch of a regional challenge grant fund, which will solicit, via RFP, proposals for activities that respond to the barriers and opportunities that emerge during the forum. A select number of proposals will be chosen for funding based on how well they align with the overall objective of catalyzing collective action and regional market development.
Creating Social Impact: Blending Philanthropic and Investment Capital, May 9-10, 2013, Singapore
The inaugural Asian Venture Philanthropy Network (AVPN) Annual Conference will be the first and largest gathering of venture philanthropists and social investors in the region. 300 delegates including AVPN member organisations and active supporters will participate. AVPN expects participants from more than 25 countries to attend this event representing venture philanthropy organisations, impact investors, private equity, wealth management, academia and grant-makers, as we advance the practice of venture philanthropy in Asia. The conference will be held at the Singapore Management University’s downtown campus. Participation in the conference will be limited and priority will be given to active providers of financial and non-financial resources to high performing social purpose organisations in Asia. The conference will seek to share learning and both broaden and deepen the venture philanthropy and social investment community across Asia.
Impact Forum: Investing in Inclusion, June 13-14, 2013, Singapore
Presented by IIX and Shujog, this will be the third Impact Forum event. The theme of Impact Forum 2013 is Investing in Inclusion, which focuses the two-day global conference on the power social enterprises and impact investing have in accelerating Asia’s social and environmental progress for the betterment of all.
