U.S. Trust Survey Says Giving is Part of Life Well Lived

The 2015 U.S. Trust Insights on Wealth and Worth report found that more than half of the wealthy consider giving back to society an important component of a life well lived.

Based on a survey of six hundred and forty high-net-worth individuals with at least $3 million in investable assets, the report found that 78% of the wealthy participate in charitable giving and 66% volunteer their time.

55% of the survey respondents said “giving back is a way to support causes that matter most to me” while 43% said “I want to set an example for my children” and 33% said they want to change the world for the better. Interestingly, only 15% said it is for a tax strategy and 12% said they were asked to.
